It’s not even something I thought about until telling a friend about my aspirations to sow up a new men’s fashion blog.
She lit up and said have you ever thought about Eco fashion? Not only had I not thought about it, but I also had no clue how big of a waste the clothing industry was on our environment.
After doing some research, I found out that clothing is a large contributor to trash. According to the Council for Textile Recycling, the U.S. generates an average of 25 billion pounds of textiles per year. Billions! The CTR says that’s about 82 pounds per person. And, 85 percent of that per year goes to landfills. This explains it better.
I’m not the most Eco-friendly, environmentally sound person you’ll ever meet. But, I value the earth enough to care to do something when I find out information like this.
So, what can you do to help? It’s simple. After you’re finished with your clothes, donate or recycle them.
Also, purchasing Eco-friendly brands help the environment.
The CTR has great information and resources.
