Three things I’ve learned while getting back on track

It happens to us all. We get into a good rhythm, we’re knocking things off of our bucket list and following through with new ventures or projects. Then, suddenly, you fall off. I can relate. I’ve been dealing with that recently, but in this case, it hasn’t been a bad thing. I haven’t been posting on Financially Fresh as I should, but a big life change just happened. My career as a reporter ended in Tampa then I took the gigantic leap and moved across coasts to Los Angeles to pursue my dreams. Making such a big move required a lot of attention and it pushed some things back, but FF is certainly a priority and glad to be back. With that being said, my new post comes from a few lessons I’ve learned through this move: 1. The famous quote “follow your dreams” may not go far enough in pushing you over the edge to actually following your dreams. So, I’m going to say this: don’t let someone else have fun doing the thing you want to do! Why let someone else live your dream when you’re fully capable of doing so? No one said it would be easy. But, is any dream worth having going to just fall into your lap? Don’t wait on it. Create a plan and execute. 2. You don’t need a lot of clothes to survive or to be fresh! A majority of my wardrobe was either donated or left at mom’s house back in Fort Lauderdale (She did need to bring me a couple of jackets, LA can get cold at night). It really can be a liberating experience to cut down on the amount of clothes in your closet. For one, you can help out a lot people by donating them and you can help the environment since the items will be reused and not just thrown away. Getting rid of the clutter will also help you focus on the items you really care about and thus make easier choices when getting dressed. There’s nothing wrong with copping a new pair of Nikes or getting a fresh new button down, but also consider something you can donate or repurpose. 3. Get back on your feet. It’s not always a bad thing when you get derailed from doing a personal project or goal or task. Just make sure you get back to it if it’s something you value.
Happy Halloween!
